critical commentary I
Feminism has been an issue long before today. Where equality has said to be given yet there are oppression and subordination amongst the community. Agreeing to the whole notion of the feminist shedding light towards sex oppression in and out the household. I think there is more to just the sexes at play in feminism. You see, feminism not only brings to light oppression from the outside but also from within. When an oppression becomes objectification, in my opinion, that is very much degrading to oneself. Feminist somehow brought somesort of equality in our world. Where some jobs who at first had discrimination to the sexes, are now diverse. Where woman and men feel empowered nonetheless. True equality is probably lightyears away still, but with feminism, there is a thinking that is definitely possible. What I love most about feminism is it breaks the stereotype amongst men as well. Where men is supposedly the one who provides and protects the family. This is an idea that has been consumed by the many of us but because of feminism the expectation, however lower I would say, is more flexible amongst genders. Now, the sexes can be whoever or whatever they want to be in a family. It, in my opinion, opens up a whole new perspective and idea where anyone can be whoever they want to be in life. That I think is beautiful especially in a world where there is battle not only from the outside but from within as well. While this sounds so skewed and flawed since i’m probably attacking genders norms and or gender roles, there is nothing wrong, in my opinion, to be who you want to be or who you are. You see, there are three (3) forms of feminist. First is the “do-me” feminism. This form of feminism is where you break gender barriers. Where you use sex as a form of empowerment rather than an excuse. The second is “Beyond-bitch” feminism. This form explicitly disregards the whole male-female duality, meaning, the whole victim card is removed. The last but not the least is the Girl power. This form is where you fully accept who you are and use it as empowerment not just for others but mostly empowering you. its funny because i’ve experienced and saw these forms come to life. To be honest, im not against feminism, im actually for, but there are just some individuals out there that claims they are feminist yet show the negatives of it. I just hate those people.
